Ingredients for 4 persons:
- 500 gr lean beef mince, lean lamb mince is also possible
- 1 chopped onion
- 1 egg
- 1/6 Packet of breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 clove of garlic chopped
- 1 teaspoon paprika powder
- 1 dash of milk
- Salt, pepper
- A dash of olive oil
Ingredients for the sauce:
- 1 chopped onion
- Olive oil
- 1 packet of pomodoro passato ( Kyknos )
- 2 tbsp tomato puree ( Kyknos )
- 700 ml water
- Salt, pepper, pinch of cinnamon and cloves
- Optionally bachari
- Small amount of freshly grated nutmeg
Preparation:
- Mix the minced meat with all the ingredients very well until it becomes a smooth mass. Then make long balls, flour them and fry them in olive oil until brown.
- Meanwhile, heat a frying pan with olive oil, fry the onion, add the tomato puree, fry for 1 minute, add the rest of the sauce ingredients and bring to the boil. Add the suzukakia (meatballs) and cook over a low heat for 45 minutes until done. If the sauce is not thick enough, remove the lid from the pan for the last 10 minutes.
- Serve with rice and a Greek salad.
