Honey

The Fotopoulos family, from the village of Akritochori not far from ours, have been making special honeys for two generations. They are constantly moving their hives to where the flowers bloom best. This way, they can produce flower honey and thyme honey from the Tayegetos Mountains. They also make orange blossom honey from Nafplion, sage honey from Corinth and pine honey from Tripolis. Many of these types are available from us in various packages.

Origin of our honey

Our honey comes from the Fotopoulos family in Akritogori, a village in our native region. For two generations, this small family business has been making honey, spreading and relocating their hives throughout the Peloponnese in order to increase production and taste. The hives are mainly located in the Taigetos, a mountain range in the Peloponnese, above 1000 metres where there is no agricultural activity. We saw these sites ourselves when we visited the Fotopoulos family farm in February 2022.

Superfood

The Fotopoulos family honey is untreated and sold in its purest form. Much of the honey sold in supermarkets is thermally processed, which means that the honey is re-melted in order to keep it liquid for longer. Unlike this process, Fotopoulos honey is unprocessed which makes it an indispensable superfood of exceptional quality!

Our product range

We offer a wide range of different flavours of honey. Our most popular flavours are floral and thyme honey. For the enthusiast, we also have honey of orange, chestnut, pine, sage and more. Take a quick look among all our honeys and choose your favourite!

How to use the honey

Of course, our honey is indispensable with your Greek yoghurt for breakfast, lunch or dessert. It is a superfood so it can also be eaten pure, for example, add it to your cup of tea. Take a look at our recipe of saganaki with honey to see how you can use honey in the kitchen.
